Jonagold was bred in the 1940's as a cross between Golden Delicious and Jonathan. It can not pollinate other varieties. It is a large golden Apple with large splashes of red. The fruit has a thin skin with a sweet and slightly tart flavor. Jonagold Apple has a superb flavor - a connoisseurs' choice because it has excellent cooking properties. It is a cross of Jonathan and Golden Delicious. It does not store well, but is excellent for eating fresh, pies, sauces, and salads. Color:
